Our brief 2020 season concludes with a fundraiser Float through Fort Tryon Park. On October 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and 31 (COVID-19 allowing), we’ll be taking some very small groups Floating through Fort Tryon Park under the best virus safety protocols we can provide (while, yes, you sign your life away on this liability waiver). In order to limit your risk, we've shrunk Float and stripped it down to its essentials. You'll have access to bathrooms and drinks at the beginning and end of the night, but not during our one fifteen minute intermission. You will be able to leave one item at Floatcheck on Saturday nights only, but it will be stowed until the very end of the night. Once again the precise location will only be released to ticket buyers, so make sure to tell your inbox’s filter that float@whatthefloat.com isn’t spam. Expect the event to last about two hours, with no afterparty. Tickets are $25-$35, each wave tops out at 25 participants, and all gift certificates, vouchers, and sherpa tickets will be accepted. No-questions-asked refunds will be available up until your start time. Sorry, no at-the-door ticket sales. Howl's Floating Castle is created and led by Cait Cortelyou at 8pm & Carl Fisk at 9pm. The profits from this event will be going to Communities United For Police Reform. There is more information on why this Floating Dance Party is a fundraiser and an explicit acknowledgment of white privilege and racist policing here.

If you cannot keep your mask on, or you cannot keep six feet apart, or you cannot arrive reasonably sober and stay that way, or you cannot be respectful of the spaces through which we’ll travel and the people we encounter, if you do not want to be at a party that makes space for recent sorrow… please do not buy a ticket. If we have safety or sobriety issues at even one of these events, we will have no choice but to cancel and refund all the rest. Sorry, this isn't the rave under the Kosciuszko Bridge. RSVP available on Facebook.

What is Float:
What The Float is a one-of-a-kind immersive dance party adventure and the only naturally socially distant dance party in the city. Explore New York in a synchronous groove odyssey - six feet away from everybody else - with the music pulsed directly into your brain but silent to any observers. Simultaneously the city’s most private dance party and its most public spectacle. Dance where you've never dreamed of dancing before. It's time. Let's Float. Take a  two hour journey through the hidden beauty of both New York City, your own freshly liberated soul, and a very large bottle of hand sanitizer. Join us the third and fourth weekend of every month for new dance jams, new dance spots, and new dance friends.

How to Float:
Dress to be true to you. Wear comfortable shoes in which you can dance and run and climb and jump. Please bring as little as possible, as Floatcheck space is limited, for your safety. We'll equip you with glowing headsets, and lead you on the dance party adventure of a lifetime.

Please join us on time, if you do not want to be left behind. Check-in is only fifteen minutes, and we want to keep things moving as quickly as possible. If you are late you may be left behind and might not be able to catch up. More on what our events looked like pre-COVID on this very website.

The small print:

To encourage caution in the era of COVID-19, all tickets are refundable, no questions asked, up until your arrival time. By the same token, please be aware that we may also have to cancel events with similarly little warning if there are any safety concerns. What The Float is an age 18+ only event. By purchasing a ticket you are affirming this liability waiver.
