Get ready to transform West Hollywood into something a whole lot groovier. On August 19th, Brandon Wolfeld is at last making his debut leading Float in LA, and whisking us back to the summer of love for Woodstock FLOAT! On the setlist this month we’ve got a surprise opener from Molly Cohen, followed by the double act of Brandon and Zatanna Zorelle. It’s nothing but showstoppers this month, and as we focus in on what truly makes Float special.
Dress in your festival finest, or however you need to beat the heat, but your footwear needs to hold up through running, climbing, and dancing, so maybe forego the Birkenstocks, hippies.
Please arrive promptly at 8pm, so we can keep this festival on schedule. There’s parking available at the West Hollywood Library lot and our night ends near where it began. We do, as always, still recommend taking a ride share.
We walk, every day, the halls of others.
The fiberoptic passageways
Where your boss aggressively uptalks.
Cowardly hiding their incompetence
And ruining your Thursday.
Our halls are our landlord's.
The sidewalks have been conquered
By restaurants lusting for one more seat
So one more ass can buy one last steak tartar.
But we invented something, a mythologic ritual.
A ritual of reclamation: the festival.
Jimi Hendrix: with his mystical bandana;
The folksters ending the war in 'Nam.
Music has always had a peculiar faculty.
And when people come together: it's transformative.
The festival has played its part:
For change, for truth. A thousand minds
Opened, excavated, examined.
Rebuilt in love and light.
Now we take to the streets in our odyssey of dance,
We'll gather at eight, and gladly galavant
Down Sunset Boulevard, rising together and
Taking the streets, with love, legs in flight.
Seize that stair, reclaim that rail, that balustrade.
Twerk and twirl, they're your streets,
It's your night. It's Woodstock Float.
Not sure what you’re getting yourself into? Let us explain. If cost is an issue, let us know, and we’ll find a way for you still to Float.
The fine print: COVID (still, STILL) isn't over. Please get vaccinated, get boosted, and get tested regularly, for your own sake. All tickets are FULLY REFUNDABLE, no questions asked, with advance notice; if you are in any way concerned about your well-being, we would very much prefer you stayed home. Just let us know so we let someone else in; these events are small and they will sell out. This is an age 21+ only event.
